It's preferably a (pre)Midnight Sun overview and character study. This focuses on the mishaps of Edwards life: he's born into the time of the Spanish Influenza. And Carlisle is there to turn him into a vampire and Edward believes his new life is meaningless and is alone, doomed to walk dead amonst the living. That's how I interpreted the "take it all away" lyrics, in the beginning - taking his life away, his chance at heaven. But it all changes when Bella comes into his life, about to get killed repetitive times, but James comes in and ruins everything by trying to take her life away, making it the ultimate challenge. That's how I interpreted the "you take away" lyrics in the end. I'm sorry if you can't hear the voiceovers well.
